55th BLANES FIREWORKS contest
55th International Fireworks Competition of the Costa Brava in Villa de Blanes (Els Focs de Blanes). They take place within the festival in honor of Santa Ana and San Joaquin (July 26), celebrating the largest international fireworks competition in Europe. More than 500,000 people visit this great show to enjoy a few nights of fire.
The fireworks are launched from the rock of Sa Palomera (inside the sea, in the Bay of Blanes). The fires are triggered every day at 22:30 hours, but if you want to get a good place it is advisable to go a little earlier.
This spectacular contest began to be held in 1970. Today it is considered one of the most prestigious fireworks contests in the world. National and international pyrotechnic companies compete to win the Vila de Blanes Trophy and a cash prize.
AUGUST OPEN-AIR CELEBRATION
It is a night to share, where we have dinner in the streets at long tables with neighbours and guests. The usual nightlife is concentrated in the centre and you can hear music everywhere.
Gastronomic campaign of the "CIM-I-TOMBA"
The gastronomic campaign of "La Cuina del Cim i Tomba" is celebrated every year in Tossa during the month of September. From 01 to 30, several restaurants in the town offer a special menu with a first course, the "Cim i Tomba" as a second course and desserts. It is necessary to mention that there are different variants of "Cim i Tomba" and that each establishment cooks it in its own way; Therefore, you can taste the same dish in different establishments and find significant variations, each one more pleasant to the palate.
Calella and Alt Maresme Fair
In the shade of the centenarian plantain trees of the Passeig de Manuel Puigvert, the whole family can enjoy the Calella and Alt Maresme Fair for a few days. Traditions and craft products from all over Catalonia are here for anyone to purchase. It is an unmissable event for those who love ancient traditions and it’s a unique opportunity to fill one’s pantry with high-quality products.
