Calella de la Costa,
historical and cultural heritage
Calella’s heritage is very interesting at a cultural level: there are a variety of different themed museums so you can discover all the secrets of the culture and history of this beautiful city.

Interpretation centre of the Calella's Lighthouse
The Calella lighthouse is a symbol of this Maresme municipality. Built in the mid-19th century where a watchtower used to protect the coast from pirate attacks, it is a building steeped in history that has also been able to adapt to modern times by hosting the Center d'Interpretació del Far de Calella (Interpretation Center of the Lighthouse of Calella).
The space occupied by the center is dedicated to showing and explaining to the public the communication tasks that are carried out in the lighthouse, whether they are maritime, to guide the boats, or also terrestrial, through optical telegraphy. It is a space to understand how these constructions have evolved and the work that has been carried out throughout history, through a modern museum project that includes interactive panels, audiovisuals and participation games aimed at children.

It is undoubtedly the most valuable part of the Foundation, since Picasso is, according to Palau, “the greatest creator of all time.”

Giants of Calella and the entire Maresme
Quirze and Minerva are the Giants of Calella. They represent a king and his queen. They do not have any type of historical link with the city of Calella and despite bearing the name of a count of "Condado de Cabrera", Bernardo I, does not represent it. Since 1961 they have been the “official” couple of the Colla de Geganters/es and Grallers/es de Calella and they take to the streets every time we celebrate the Festival, as well as other events. They are part of our popular culture and are often found in the Major Festivals of neighboring towns.
Other figures: Llopa, Bernat and Elisenda, Bernat II and the Timbor de Fenollet and Mastegamosques.
